BDJ-STEM’s founding organizers consist of experienced educators, teachers, school administrators and both university and K-12 upper administration personnel. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kirk Gaddy, has a doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Education in Curriculum Development and Instruction from Loyola College in Maryland, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola College in Maryland. Dr. Gaddy has been a teacher and an administrator in inner city Catholic Schools for the past 22 years. He is a former president of the Elementary School Principals Association (ESPA) of the Archdiocese of Baltimore (AOB), has been a teacher trainer for the AOB and serves on the AOB’s curriculum and strategic plan committee Kevin Parson is the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) of the school.  Carl Stokes serves as the Director of Operations. The founders are also an attorney and Baltimore City College graduate, an engineer and senior executive at BGE, who is a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute; a former elected official and Paul Lawrence Dunbar graduate; as well as upper level administrators, parents, community representatives, and individuals from the fields of finance, non-profits and private business.

Job Summary for Teachers: Plans and implements instructional program and provide related educational services for  young men in grade 6. Manages student behavior, assesses and evaluates student achievement, and modify instructional activities as needed or required; performs responsibilities as required or assigned. Performs duties within a team setting.
 
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Good knowledge of content, instructional methods, and curriculum
  • Good knowledge of adolescent growth and development and learning theory
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to  instructional programs and practices
  • Skill in written and oral communication
  • Excellent human relations skills
  • Ability to move around the room to check for student work
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons
Requirements:
  • B.S. or B.A. degree in subject area
  • Appropriate teacher certification
  • Evidence of educational experiences  (student teaching, fellowships, summer study  or  course work in subject area, curriculum development, technology, etc.)
